Tech at startups is overrated.

Really interesting article by Leo Polovets, who was one of the first engineers at LinkedIn and has also worked at Google. He has a couple of really interesting points, including that tech rarely moves the needle at startups.

Tech has become somewhat commoditized with cloud computing, API’s and plugins. Unless you are a pure tech company (e.g. innovating on hardware, or Pied Piper), then engineering matters less now. Companies don’t have to build their own servers.

More important is finding product market fit and recruiting. Really interesting to consider.

Startup Tech Dilligence is a waste of time.
